Lynden (Lyn) Klein has been in various businesses throughout the past 40 years. Much of that experience has come from owning and operating retail and service oriented businesses.
Lyn has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Fort Hays State University. Following graduation in 1970 the next two years were spent working as an auditor and accountant for a local CPA firm, where he completed audits of local municipalities and school districts in central and western Kansas.
The next four years were spent as an accountant for a local Mental Health Center, building one of the first computerized time management and allocation systems for the Mental Health system in the country. This system was later marketed to other Mental Health systems in Kansas. IBM wanted to market the system nationwide, but since my was funded by a Federal Grant that was not possible.
In 1977 Lyn joined the staff of a local new car dealership as Business Manager and was promoted to General Manager where he was responsible for bringing new franchises into the dealership. During this time period he also became a partner in the real estate of the dealership.
It was in 1992 that Lyn received the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Merchant in Downtown Revitalization sponsored by Kansas National Main Street Program. The award was given for the support of Downtown Hays through advertising, financial support as well as serving on the Board of Directors of Downtown Business Improvement District.
In 1994 Lyn and his wife purchased the TCBY franchise in Hays and took this franchise to one of the top five in the nation before selling in 1999.
Also, in 1994 Lyn received his Realtors license and has been actively involved in Real Estate; during this time he attained membership in the million dollar sales group.
In February 1995 Lyn was hired to manage Kansas DBS which had been started a couple months before but needed new management. Kansas DBS was the marketing tool for Directv in Central and Western Kansas. This company grew at a fast rate and was acquired by a group called DTS of Kansas. With a fast pace of growth DTS of Kansas was acquired by Pegasus Satellite Television. In 1998 Lyn was made Regional Sales Manager over several states and held this position for six months until the company re-organized.
In December 1998 Lyn and two other partners formed Jones, Morris & Klein LLC. This company conducted seminars and workshops on Business Plan development and writing, critiqued Business Plans, sought Venture Capital for start-up companies and provided Project Management for Construction projects. In 2001 when 911 hit the venture capital market collapsed and the company closed its operation.
In January 2001 Lyn was hired by Westland Energy to manage it and restructure the company as it was not profitable. In 2004 the company was divided and acquired by two other companies.
Following the sale of Westland Energy Lyn was hired as a consultant by High Plains Energy in Garden City, Kansas to serve as interim manager as they had terminated their management team. Lyn re-structured the company and re-wrote the policies and procedures during this 6 month term.
In 2006 Lyn and Doug Williams formed a partnership called Summit Business Brokers, LLC and started providing Business Brokerage to Western Kansas. After several years of success the company was merged with Advanced Real Estate, LLC.
In 2011 Lyn purchased the stock in Advanced Real Estate Co. P.A. The company is involved in selling residential, commercial, Agricultural, and does some Business Brokerage. Advanced Real Estate Co has been a major competitor in the Real Estate market with offices in Hays, Wakeeney and Norton.
